Dr David Wright is an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist with over 20 years experience. Originally from the United Kingdom, he studied medicine at Guy’s Hospital, London. He subsequently completed a ‘Calman Specialist Training Program’ in Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery. He then underwent advanced training in Head & Neck Surgery in Australia. He was the ‘Head and Neck Fellow’ at The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2005 & 2006. Dr Wright has three post graduate Fellowship qualifications with Colleges of Surgeons in both the UK and Australia. He is registered with the GMC(UK) and AHPRA(Australia). Dr Wright is also a member of the ENT-UK and The Australian and New Zealand Head & Neck Cancer Society.
Dr Wright practices ‘evidence based’ medicine and has a special interest in teaching. He was an Anatomy Demonstrator at the Royal Free Hospital, London and Associate Lecturer at The University of Queensland. Dr Wright is currently a Senior Lecturer at James Cook University Medical School. He has close links with the major teaching hospitals in Brisbane and travels to The University of Queensland, Brisbane, to teach junior ENT surgeons how to perform complex Head and Neck Cancer Surgery. He has also been on the faculty for ‘Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Surgery’ and ‘Head & Neck Laser Surgery.’
Dr Wright sees patients in both the public and private systems and is fully credentialed at four hospitals in Townsville and Mackay. He also has state wide credentialing by Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital for his Paediatric outreach work with ‘The Deadly Ears Program.’
Dr Wright manages Head and Neck cancer cases in close association with Radiation and Medical Oncologists. He often performs complex surgery, including reconstruction, for head and neck cancers, including skin tumours.
Dr Wright has extensive experience in all aspects of Ear Nose and Throat surgery and is happy to see neonates, infants, older children and adults.
